A Conversation between A and B covering Cannes 

B: I am so excited about STYLE.COM who have just written about Edition Poshette, – about us! Can you believe it ? And Danish magasine IN.

A: I know it’s so cool, I am wondering whether it will bring us any closer to defining ‘style’?

B:  I kind of think that style is part of who you are. Everyone has something special or stylish about them – an individual style that should be cultivated and you can cultivate several styles according to what mood you are in. Perhaps real style is being courageous enough to COME AS YOU ARE, so to speak.

A: Or to ‘BE who you are ” at least it’s what I like to remind myself of, before I embark on an unknown adventure

B: And taking that a step further : BE who you WANT to be.

A: Of course ! Aspiring to be who you want to be. So who would I want to be?

B: You could always be ME ?

A:  Ha – I always want to be you – but I could never get to your level!  So I’ll have to be ME at my very best –  that’s pretty close to being you. Recently when the grand opportunity arose to celebrate the western  SALVATION officially selected for a red carpet screening at Cannes film festival, my other half Kasper Winding had written the score of the film so off we went to Cannes!

B: Wow! What an adventure ! What an opportunity to celebrate!

A: I know, I wish you could have been there ,-you know whenever we celebrate small or great things in our life we create marks – memorable milestones- and when making the effort to celebrate we manage to express our gratitude for what we have worked for, and whom we are with, and why we even did it in the first place.

B: That’s absolutely true, and we mustn’t forget all the fun one has when preparing for a celebration or all the fun talking about it afterwards,- so what style did you choose? I hope you showed one of your shoulders off I think you have very stylish shoulders.

A: Well thank you  – I did show shoulders. Maybe that is my stylish asset ? Oh and the preparation – how much fun was that?  I already had some beautiful silks I’d bought – I am a bit of a fabric addict, as you may well know, but it was really a question of which fabrics would go with my Edition Poshette bag. I couldn’t make up my mind and ended up making several outfits, got completely emerged in the wonderful world of creating, bringing far too much with me  in a ridicously huge suitcase for only a couple of days.

B: Well I guess you may as well enjoy the glamorous stride on the Croisette and the red carpet where everyone plays the part they have undoubtedly come to play. Nobody  will really tell you how to play the part, so better to decide yourself what makes you stylish – or at least what makes you feel stylish.

A: Exactly!  It was one of those moments the surrealists call a ”magical circumstantial”- a chance. How incredible it was to transform myself and assume the part of ‘becoming who I wanted to be’, and perhaps just realizing that what makes you feel stylish is the simplicity  and elegance of  being able to enjoy yourself, and yes of course adding your own personal paper cut twist …

B: Ahhh the purse & paper touch! Once again Edition Poshette comes in handy! Now show me the photos and I will conclude : “Real style is having the courage to be who you want to be and let your personality shine”

  Cannes – Un Certain Regard

So first evening I wore a slightly over-sized tuxedo outfit with an Edition Poshette belt around my waist. It went beautifully with the new bag we are working on. Anette Simson had managed to get it ready for Cannes. So here it is in downtown Cannes by night. It went well with my ‘ Helmut Newton’  pose.   

Next evening I wore one of the dresses I had made-flowery ,-with a life of its own, it sort of speaks for itself, perfect for going to the “Silencio’ Club – that had  temporarily opened up in Cannes- and a A’net-a-porter bag, I added a giraff  ‘au tour de temps‘ around my neck and paper butterflies to keep me and the bag company. The food was amazing by the way ! 

On the night of showing SALVATION, the director of the film Kristian Levring and his team including Kasper walked up together, so I didn’t get to actually walk beside him but there was red carpet under my feet, and that was something in itself!

My wonderful in laws where in Cannes reporting for Danish television so they filmed me and I had taken their advice of walking slowly so they could capture me on film quite possibly to the extreme,-so on the film I am slightly milking it to the last drop!

With a single hangover  in my hair having coffee and a croissant on the Croisette, my Curator Poshette and I watched the weird and wonderful festival crowd go by….

Cannes is so much more than the red Carpet – it’s blue,beautiful,dreamy,decadent, outrageous, and maybe the biggest attraction of all, was that it was so far away from my reality. So I leaned back with my Cannes Poshette and enjoyed the ride whilst it lasted.

A: Je suis très excitée par cet article de Style.com sur Edition Poshette ! Et aussi celui du magazine Danois IN.
B: Oui, c’est vraiment super. Je me demande si avec ça, nous avons une définition plus précise de ce qu’est le « style » ?
A:  J’aime penser que le style est une partie de ce que nous sommes. Nous avons tous quelque chose de spécial ou d’élégant en nous: nous avons simplement besoin de le cultiver. Et nous pouvons avoir plusieurs styles adaptés à notre état d’esprit du moment. En fait, avoir du style c’est peut-être tout simplement être courageux de VENIR COMME ON EST.
B: ou d’ « ETRE TEL QUE L’ON EST ». En tout cas, j’essaie souvent de me rappeler de ça chaque fois que je me lance dans une nouvelle aventure.
A: on peut même aller plus loin en « ETANT celle que l’on VEUX être »
B: Absolument ! Etre celui ou celle que je veux être! Alors… « Qui je veux être? »…
A: moi ?
B: Ahhh – j’ai toujours envie d’être toi- mais je ne pourrai jamais t’égaler, alors je serai MOI, du mieux que je pourrai. C’est la meilleure façon de te ressembler le plus. Récemment, s’est présentée l’occasion de célébrer le western SLAVATION, cité dans la sélection officielle du Festival de Cannes, et dont la musique a été écrite par mon autre moitié Kasper Winding, et nous nous sommes rendus à Cannes.
Et la grande question a été: quoi porter ?
A: Quelle aventure et belle occasion de célébrer ça !
B: Oui, j’aurais aimé que tu puisses être là aussi. – tu sais, chaque fois que nous fêtons des petites ou grandes choses, nous laissons des marques – des étapes mémorables- et quand nous faisons l’effort de célébrer, nous exprimons notre gratitude envers ce pourquoi nous avons travaillé, envers ceux qui sont à nos côtés, et même envers nous-même.
A: Tu as entièrement raison. Et nous ne devons jamais oublier tout le plaisir que nous avons à préparer une fête et celui que nous aurons à en parler après… Alors, quel style as-tu choisi ? J’espère que tu as dénudé une de tes épaules, car je trouve que tu as de très belles épaules 🙂
B: Oh, merci ! – J’ai montré mes épaules- peut-être est-ce mon plus bel atout ?
En tout cas, la préparation était vraiment géniale: j’avais plusieurs morceaux de soie, comme tu le sais, j’adore les tissus.  La grande question était de savoir lequel d’entre eux irait avec mon sac Edition Poshette? Je n’ai pas réussi à choisir alors je me suis plongé dans le monde merveilleux de la création et ai réalisé plusieurs tenues ! Au final, j’avais beaucoup trop d’affaires dans ma valise pour seulement quelques jours !
A: Oui mais tu y allais pour ça aussi! Il fallait bien que tu profites du côté glam de la Croisette et de son tapis rouge où tout le monde joue le jeu qu’il est amené à jouer. Ce n’est pas comme si quelqu’un t’avait dit quoi faire, alors tu as bien fait de choisir ce qui te rend belle et élégante – ou en tout cas te fait te sentir comme tel.
B: Exactement ! C’était un de ces moments surréalistes dits « magiques » – une chance. Quelle chance de participer au Festival de Cannes et de pouvoir assumer de « devenir celle que je veux être » ; On réalise alors que ce qui rend élégant: c’est la simplicité et la capacité de profiter de tout cela… tout en apportant sa touche personnelle avec un découpage !
A: Ahhh la pochette et un peu de découpage ! Une fois encore, Edition Poshette sait être pratique ! Allez, montre-moi mes photos et je me charge de conclure:
Le vrai style c’est avoir le courage d’être la personne que l’on veut être et de laisser briller sa personnalité.
